We aim to attract talented people who deliver for clients and drive our business forward. A commitment to collaboration, working closely with colleagues from across the business and fostering a team mentality are all central to the success of our connected broker model and the approach we look for when hiring. When it comes to creating a great culture we listen and then act; our People and Culture strategy is key to making Jensten a fantastic place to work, learn and grow.

Lauren Barwell, Group People Director

I decided to join Jensten in order to take the next steps in my career. In my previous company, I worked as a HR Administrator but had little opportunity to grow and develop further. I started out at Jensten as a HR Operations Co-ordinator and managed day-to-day queries, letters, system updates, and onboarding and offboarding. From this, I found a real passion in updating and improving our systems and processes, and working on HR projects, which was encouraged by my incredible manager, allowing me to be promoted to HR Operations Specialist. With this role, I began to take on responsibility for supporting and mentoring the wider HR Operations team, which has then allowed me to become a line manager. During my time at Jensten, I have been fortunate enough to carry out training relating to psychometric testing (which relates to my interest in Occupational Psychology), attended Insights, New Manager Training, and am currently attending the Women’s Development Programme. I would really encourage people to join Jensten as we are a fast-paced and growing business, which gives so many opportunities for growth and career progression. I’ve especially enjoyed the opportunity to try out new things to find the areas in my role where I would love to specialise to build a career I love.

Becca Covill

As a growing business, we have a mix of hybrid, office and home-based roles across our broking and underwriting divisions, as well as in our central business functions.

Jensten places significant value on developing our people through our ‘grow as we grow’ approach

I started at Jensten in 2006, having worked for an insurer and a Lloyd’s broker following university. I quickly realised I wanted to grow my career in underwriting. Having started as a Commercial Account Handler, I held several roles including Senior Account Handler and Product Development Manager before becoming Head of Trading, a role I have now been in for two years. Stepping into this position was an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference – shaping our trading approach while helping develop the next generation of underwriters. These roles have helped me grow my own underwriting and leadership skills while enabling me to pass that knowledge on to colleagues earlier in their careers.

The business has supported me throughout my professional development, helping me attain my Cert CII and Dip CII qualifications, and I am now studying for my ACII. I was selected to take part in Jensten’s inaugural Future Leaders Training course, which helped me develop a broad range of skills, including people management. I have also completed Springboard, Jensten’s dedicated work and personal development programme for women – a programme that has been invaluable in strengthening my confidence, leadership approach, and personal resilience. Jensten provides so many learning opportunities, and I’m passionate about embracing them to support both my own growth and the development of those coming through the business.
